Welcome to the Youth Immigration Project!

THINGS TO DO IN AN EMERGENCY

If immigration comes to you in public or comes to your home:

  • Stay Silent. Don’t answer questions. Ask if you are free to go.
  • Say No to Search. Immigration can’t search you, your things, or your home without a warrant.

If immigration arrests you:
  • Get a Lawyer. Don’t sign anything without a lawyer.
  • Know a Phone Number. Call your family or lawyer if detained.

If immigration is trying to deport you:
  • Speak to a Judge. You’ll usually see a judge before being deported.
  • Ask for Translation. The court will provide a translator.
